What Is SS-31?

(also called elamipretide)

SS-31 is a small synthetic peptide that concentrates inside mitochondria, the structures in your cells that produce energy. It binds to cardiolipin, a fat in the inner mitochondrial membrane that holds the energy-producing machinery in place. Research shows mitochondrial efficiency declines with age, and damaged cardiolipin is one reason cells produce less energy and more oxidative stress over time.

Mitochondria make energy along their inner membrane, where a chain of proteins passes electrons to produce ATP. Cardiolipin is the fat that anchors that chain. When cardiolipin is damaged by oxidative stress, the chain leaks electrons, energy output falls, and more free radicals are produced, which damages more cardiolipin.

Cellular Energy

Supports the efficiency of energy production inside the mitochondria.

Endurance

Studied for skeletal muscle performance and exercise tolerance.

Oxidative Stress

May reduce the free radicals mitochondria leak as they age.

Healthy Aging

Studied for age-related decline in mitochondrial function.

How SS-31 Works

What SS-31 does in the body over time.

Day 1

SS-31 concentrates inside mitochondria and binds to cardiolipin in the inner membrane.

30 Days

As the energy-producing chain runs more efficiently, you may notice steadier energy and better stamina.

3 Months

Sustained support for mitochondrial function may show up as improved endurance and recovery.

6 Months

Continued use supports mitochondrial health and lower oxidative stress over time.

1 Year and Beyond

Part of a long-term approach to energy and healthy aging as mitochondrial function declines with age.

Timeline reflects the general mechanism and published research. Individual results vary and are not guaranteed.
